These are the décor trends that made waves in Europe this winter
As the Northern hemisphere welcomes the spring and we move into the cooler winter months, here are some of the décor trends that stood out in interior design
When it comes to interior design certain trends have more stay while others are constantly changing and evolving with the times. In this constantly changing environment staying on top of the latest interior design and décor trends can be hard work. Ahead of the winter months that are heading our way, we’re looking at some of the décor trends which made waves in Europe and the UK this winter.
Natural, earthy tones
An excellent way to add a touch of warmth to a home’s interior this winter is to incorporate warm, earthy tones (think spice-inspired) into the décor. Rich colours like turmeric yellow, russet, caramel, cinnamon, terracotta and burnt orange saw a rise in popularity during the autumn/winter months in the Northern hemisphere thanks to the authentic warmth they bring to the home’s interior and their cosy, relaxing appeal.
Introduce some curves
Curves have shown themselves to be a standout theme in interior design in 2020 and will make the perfect addition to a home’s interior, thanks to their elegant and timeless appeal which is emphasized by gently curved edges, smooth lines and scalloped and fan detailing. Curves also add a touch of warmth to a space as they smooth out and soften the harder edges in favour of creating cosier, more comfortable shapes – making them ideal for a winter-inspired interior.
Add a touch of the old with the ‘grand-millennial style’
You can add a touch of vintage sophistication into a home’s interior by incorporating another décor trend – namely adding a splash of antique, vintage or rustic-inspired statement pieces for some old-school charm. Adding antique pieces, items with worn, or patina finishes, vintage-style or reclaimed furniture and other rustic touches to an otherwise contemporary style of interior, will give it a sophisticated yet laid-back and cosy appeal – making this the perfect décor trend to embrace this winter.
Embrace cosier fabrics
There’s nothing better than winter fabrics that you can cosy up into and, luckily for us, adding lots of cosy, comfortable and textured fabrics into a home’s décor is a back on trend. From soft mohairs, to nubucks, velvets and textured wools and linens, incorporating these cosy fabrics into a home’s décor – and layering them too – is one trend that made waves overseas which will be absolutely perfect for the chilly winter months ahead.
There is no better time than now to start incorporating these exciting décor trends into your interior, as they will not only ensure that the rooms are up to date with international trends, but will also result in a home that is extra cosy to keep the winter chill at bay.
